Our story

Tevar is attitude. We make it wearable.

Urban Tevar started with a simple irritation: the jewellery Indian women actually want to wear loudly is either locked in a bank vault or waiting for a wedding. Everything in between is small, safe and beige.

So we went the other way. Oxidised brass, blackened by hand, cut into shapes that take up room — jhumkas that swing, rings you notice, nose pins with an opinion. Priced so you can own several and wear them on an ordinary Tuesday.

Design & philosophy

Every piece is handcrafted in India by artisans working the way their families have worked for generations. The metal is oxidised by hand, then finished so the black settles into the detail and the highlights stay bright. We use nickel-free brass with an anti-tarnish finish, because jewellery that turns your skin green is not a bargain at any price.

We do not pretend this is silver. It is brass, and brass is what lets us sell a statement piece for the price of two coffees. What we will not compromise on is how it is made and how it wears.

The name

तेवर — tevar — means attitude. Swagger. The way you carry yourself when you have decided not to shrink. Our wordmark sets तेवर in Devanagari with the shirorekha extended, and rests URBAN on that same line: the old script holding up the new city.
